On Salt Lake Valley

1891

I hunted around for a farm to rent, and I found one in West Jordan, therefore we moved to that place. Now I had to get horses and outfit to farm with. I had no money so I ran in debt, while in Murray sick of the smelter smoke. I now had to buy everything on time until I could get something from the farm to pay with. I expected to pay the old debt in Murray, about two hundred dollars.

In two years I paid up in Murray, and paid for everything I got for the farm, equipment, horses, cows, implements, pigs and chickens. I together with my wife worked hard to accomplish all that in two years. We surely worked hard. We were not only blessed into better conditions but were blessed with an increase in the family and received our third daughter, her name is Lillie Rachel, born the twenty-sixth of March.

On account of my sickness and opposition it brought me to the debt of humility and I exercised more faith and repentance, and I was indeed blessed of the Lord.
