On That Little Girl Who Had Her Eye On Me

1884

Now it came to me as clear as day light. I would do well to send for that little girl who had her eye on me and I love her too. So I sent money to Katherine Pedersen.

Three of my brothers, Jens, Karl, and Peter went for half price, that was now enjoyable for me to have so many of the family come from the Old Country to help to get the rest gathered in.

When I was working for Adwood in the fall of the year the Brick Yard ran down, so I took a job at once at the Smelters. That was where I was working when I sent the money to Denmark to emigrate the three brothers and the girl, which I now together with her laid plans to get married.

In the fall of the year, I went to my bishop and asked for a recommendation to go to the Temple to get married. He said, “You will have to have a recommend for the girl too, and you have got to be ordained an Elder first.”

I was ordained an Elder by President Harper, of the Elder’s Quorum of South Cottonwood.

We went and got married on the eleventh of December, in the Logan Temple, and went back to Murray where I was working at the time. My mother-in-law came to visit us. She was located in Manti, San Pete County.
